Open?

Come when you want, but this is not pick-up, rec, or a club team. Our job is to make you better. City Soccer sessions are open and at-will, and both words mean something specific.

At-will means you get to choose when you train. When you show up, you have a duty to do your part. Come prepared. Come ready to play and learn. It is no different than the coaches. The coach is prepared to organize and teach. Your choice to attend is a bilateral agreement. If you are not doing your part, a coach is very likely to ask you to step off the field.

Open means you have access to come anytime we are operating, all year. You can participate in sessions at your level. Open also means open-floor. People attend from all over the city to learn, not just what we teach, but what others might be doing. Players and parents often interact and illuminate for each other. The environment also teaches, if you ask.

This is a new floor for soccer in New Orleans, not just another training session. Sessions are high level, challenging, and a lot of fun, but the quality of what we run depends on you showing up ready to learn and participate. Players who buy in get better fast, fall in love with the game on a deeper level, and develop in ways pickup soccer will never give them. The only thing we ask is the right mindset: show up to play, and show up to learn.

  • Show up prepared and on time. Every session.
  • Commit to a full month of orientation before joining regular sessions.
  • Listen, learn, and play within our principles and game model.

Earn the base level of understanding our sessions are built on. Then you are in. No shortcuts, no exceptions, no apologies.

How It Works

01

Register Online

Complete our registration form. We'll collect basic info about your player including age, experience level, and any preferences.

02

Initial Session

Intro sessions run on Mondays and Tuesdays. Pick the time that works when you register, or reach out if you need an alternative. Bring cleats, soccer flats or flat shoes, and water. We provide everything else. No tryouts, no pressure.

03

Decide to Continue

After the initial session, your player decides if City Soccer is the right fit. No commitment required until you're ready.

04

Orientation Month

Orientation is a one-month membership. This is where we build the foundation: the basics, the habits, and the understanding that our sessions depend on. Our existing players train at a high level because everyone shares the same preparation. Orientation makes sure your player is ready to step in and keep up, not slow down. We'll move them up as soon as they're ready.

05

Join Your Program

After orientation, your player is placed in the right program for their age and level. From here, the real development begins.

What to Expect

City Soccer is a community academy, not a competitive club. Our sessions focus on development, fun, and building a love for the game. Players of all skill levels are welcome.

Sessions run Monday through Thursday with structured programming, and Fridays through Sundays are open accumulation days where anyone can come out and play. Saturdays are free. Your player will be grouped with others at their age and level.

Parents are welcome to watch from the sidelines but cannot enter the playing area. We'll communicate schedule updates, progress, and announcements directly.

Why Orientation?

Think about chess. When you were a kid, the board was a toy. You pushed pieces around, knocked them over, made up your own rules. That was fun, and it counted as playing.

Then you learned what each piece does. The pawn, the knight, the bishop, the rook, each with its own way of moving. You were not playing chess yet, but you were starting to understand it.

Then came the real game: how the pieces work together. Openings, structures, trades, endgames. You stopped pushing pieces around and started playing chess.

Soccer works the same way. Most players never get past the first stage. They run after the ball because it is fun, and that counts as playing. We are here for the players who want to learn the pieces, and then learn the game.

Our training is built on concepts and principles that aren't typically taught elsewhere. Even experienced players need an introduction to how we play and think about the game.

Our existing players train at a high level because everyone shares the same understanding. Letting new players jump straight into main sessions would disrupt that for everyone. Orientation gives your player the foundation they need to keep up and contribute from day one.

We move players up as soon as they're ready. Orientation isn't about holding anyone back, it's about setting them up to succeed.
